Due to the influence of the electronic media, the present day children are not interested in learning the spellings. That is why Royal Spelling Bee has come forward to conduct spelling competition for students from grade 1 to 12. As we all know reading, writing and arithmetic popularly known as the three Rs form the foundation of education. Mastering these makes a person literate. The ideas are expressed through the medium of words. And that is where spellings come into play. Spelling is the basic skill underlying writing and therefore should be an integral part of instruction of every student. It is a well-known fact that what we learn as children remains with us throughout our lives.
